Everyone loves a movie night. Skip AMC and head to Santee movie drive-in for a more intimate and relaxing way to enjoy all of the newly released movies you would go see in typical theatres. Especially if you have an SUV, you can pop the trunk and set up a super cute date with blankets, drinks, and snacks (you don’t have to sneak them in!!). If there’s a scary movie out, the outdoor experience will definitely make it more fun. The cars sync with a radio station that plays the movie’s audio track so you won’t have to worry about not hearing.
Hit up Monello to fulfill your cheese wheel dreams. Each week they have a different pasta special so make sure you check their Instagram or call in beforehand! Monello is located in the heart of Little Italy, making it perfect date night location with surrounding dessert places and a nice stroll downtown. With endless Italian restaurants around, you’ll definitely make an impression with the cheese wheel experience.
Ending the night great views at Coronado is a classic San Diego “must.” There are many places you could go but this little hideaway is my favorite. The Bay View Park only has 4-5 benches, making it a quiet spot for conversation and an amazing view of the city.
Movie date option #2, or the more boujie movie date. The Lot is a small theatre where dinner & movie combine. The seats are amazingly comfortable and the prices aren’t a crazy jump from your local AMC theatre. It’s a good choice for a more special date that you would have every once in a while. Surprisingly, I think the food is pretty great here. Sometimes I order off the kid’s menu because of the lowered price and large portions. Honestly, I’ve even Postmated their food because I think it’s that good. There are two locations — one in downtown La Jolla and one at Liberty Station. Both locations are really stunning with a very romantic yet clean/modern atmosphere.
Harumama – Buns out!
This one is for those who don’t want to venture out from Asian food but still want something unique and fun for date night. Harumama is located in Little Italy and they serve Asian cuisine with a modern twist. Am I lame for thinking pretty food makes food yummier? Probably. Is it overpriced and not as good as authentic Asian food? Probably. But… will your date have instagrammable pictures they can post and make everyone jealous??? Yes. Everyone loves cute buns.
